Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

KHAINA: JOURNAL OF TEACHING AND LEARNING is a peer-reviewed academic journal managed and published by Yayasan Bale Beleq Indonesia. This statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process, adhering strictly to COPE Core Practices.

1. Peer Review Process (Single-Blind Policy)

Operates a rigorous Single-Blind Peer Review system. Reviewer identities remain confidential from authors, though reviewers are aware of author identities and affiliations.

Every manuscript undergoes initial screening for scope alignment and plagiarism before assignment to at least two independent expert reviewers.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
  • Publication Decisions: Editor-in-Chief decides acceptance based on academic validity and relevance to teaching & learning studies.
  • Fair Play & Confidentiality: Neutral evaluation without bias; strict protection of manuscript data and materials.
  • Conflict of Interest: Recusal from handling submissions with financial or collaborative conflicts.
3. Protocols for Internal Submissions

Submissions by editors or reviewers are excluded from their own editorial chain. Evaluation and final decisions are fully delegated to an independent guest editor, with a "Declaration of Interest" note published upon acceptance.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
  • Promptness & Confidentiality: Promptly notify editors if unable to review; treat all documents as strictly confidential.
  • Objectivity: Provide objective, well-reasoned scientific evaluations and declare any conflicts of interest.
5. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
• Reporting & Originality: Present accurate, original research with proper citations for all third-party work.
• Concurrent Submission: Confirm the manuscript is not published or under review elsewhere.
• Authorship & Disclosure: Limit authorship to significant contributors and declare financial/institutional conflicts.
6. Plagiarism Policy & Misconduct

Enforces a zero-tolerance policy screened via Turnitin. Maximum allowable similarity index is 20%. Severe violations lead to immediate rejection, retractions, blacklisting, and institutional notification.

7 & 8. Ethical Complaints & Corrections

Complaints sent to the Editor-in-Chief are investigated using COPE flowcharts within 4–6 weeks. Post-publication errata, retractions, or expressions of concern are managed strictly under COPE standards.
