INDONESIAN STUDIES upholds high standards of publication ethics and adheres to the principles of transparency, integrity, and academic honesty. Managed and published by Bale Beleq Indonesia, this statement clarifies the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Peer Review Process & Scholarly Merit

Indonesian Studies operates a rigorous peer-review system to ensure high academic quality:

• Objective Evaluation: Reviewers must provide objective, unbiased, and constructive feedback to help improve the manuscript.
• Editorial Decisions: Editors make publication decisions based solely on scholarly merit, academic validity, and scope relevance, without regard to the author's background.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

• Fair Play & Neutrality: Editors evaluate submissions purely on intellectual content without bias or discrimination.
• Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must protect the confidentiality of all submitted materials throughout the process.
• Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have competitive, collaborative, or other conflicts of interest.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

• Constructive Feedback: Reviewers contribute directly to editorial decisions and assist authors in elevating their scholarly work.
• Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as strictly confidential documents.
• Promptness & Integrity: Reviewers should decline assignments in a timely manner if they lack expertise or face conflicts of interest.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

• Originality & Citation: Submitted works must be entirely original and properly cited. Data fabrication, falsification, and improper citation are strictly prohibited.
• No Concurrent Submissions: Simultaneous submissions or redundant publications of the same research across multiple journals are prohibited.
• Disclosure of Conflicts: Authors must explicitly disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence their research findings.

5. Plagiarism Policy & Misconduct

All manuscripts are thoroughly screened using plagiarism detection software. Articles must maintain a similarity index of under 15% to be eligible for further review.

Any form of academic misconduct—including data fabrication, improper authorship, or severe plagiarism—will be addressed seriously to maintain the credibility and academic integrity of the journal.

6. Complaints & Misconduct Management

Formal complaints or allegations of misconduct regarding editorial decisions, reviewers, or authors must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief. The Editorial Board investigates all complaints thoroughly in accordance with COPE guidelines.
